🐾 A Walk in the Park™ FAQ

Whimsical answers for curious dog lovers. Because dogs deserve joy—and so do you!

We’re a canine lifestyle center—not just daycare. That means enrichment-based experiences tailored to your dog’s personality, energy level, and social comfort. Every day is joyful, structured, and full of love.
Our structured schedule includes play, rest, enrichment, snacks, and cuddles. It’s the perfect mix of fun and recharge. Your dog will go home happy-tired—the best kind of tired.
We create monthly themed experiences—like sniff trails, scent-based puzzles, and obstacle adventures—designed to stimulate your dog’s brain and body. Think Disneyland for dogs, with structure and science behind the fun.
Absolutely. Whether your dog prefers the quiet company of a human over a full-on paw-ty, or they’re the zoomie king of the play yard, we customize their day to fit their emotional and physical needs.
We don’t lump all pups together in one big free-for-all. We carefully curate playgroups based on size, energy level, and social style. Big dogs don’t go bowling with tiny ones, and nervous Nellies don’t get overwhelmed by party animals. This keeps tails wagging and injuries low.
Let us know! Many of our clients have pups with prosthetics, food sensitivities, or anxiety. We follow feeding and medication instructions to the letter and will happily accommodate special routines. Your dog’s health and happiness are our daily checklist.
We do! Boarding, grooming, training, and our signature enrichment add-ons like Puppy Bomb™ sessions and Storytime Reading. Whether it’s a spa day or a social sleepover, we’ve got your pup covered.
We're not miracle workers, but we are really good listeners—and better yet, trainers. Many of our staff are trained in dog behavior and positive reinforcement methods. We also offer training programs that can support shy, reactive, or overly enthusiastic dogs with practical strategies and compassion.
We offer curbside concierge service. Pull up and give us a ring—we’ll come to you. Forgot your phone? No worries—we’re adding a doorbell soon (yes, we heard you!). We know mornings can be ruff, so we keep it smooth and speedy.
Let us put it this way: our parking lot is a scene of excited tail-wagging and joyful leaps. Dogs know when they’re headed to A Walk in the Park™, and their enthusiasm says it all. Plus, that sweet "happy exhaustion" at pick-up time? Priceless.
Yes—if it’s beneficial to your dog’s health, safety, or emotional well-being.

At A Walk in the Park™, we use kennels (also referred to as crates or individual rest spaces) intentionally and compassionately. They are never used as punishment or simply for convenience.

Many dogs actually seek out enclosed spaces to rest, and research shows that structured rest—especially in quiet, low-stimulation environments—is essential for emotional regulation, learning, and long-term health. Our kenneling practices are backed by leading veterinary and behavioral science institutions, including the AKC, Cornell University, and the University of Birmingham.

We play training games to create positive emotional associations with kennels and ensure each dog learns that their crate is a safe, restful retreat—not something to fear. Dogs enjoy their own chew-stuffed Kong, lick mats, or calming scents during kennel time.

However, we do not force dogs into kennels if they show signs of severe fear or panic. If a dog cannot rest comfortably in a crate, we make accommodations to ensure they still receive decompression time in alternative ways—like quiet areas, soft beds in staff offices, or supervised rest outside of crates.
We get it—pup cams sound fun! But webcams often show your dog during nap time, not during the joyful zoomies and tail wags. Instead, we believe in real relationships—we’d rather talk to you directly about how your pup’s day is going. Need an update? Call us. We love talking about your dog almost as much as you do.
You bet. While we don't use webcams, we do love sharing stories, snapshots, and insights about your dog’s behavior, progress, and friends they made. If something unusual happens (good or bad), you’ll hear it from us. We're obsessed with communication.
Escape artists beware: our safety protocols are fortress-level. Dogs are grouped by temperament and play style, and supervised by trained staff at all times. Fenced play yards, locked doors, and structured activities mean your pup is always exactly where they should be—safely having the time of their life.
Because excellence has no zip code. From structured enrichment and 24/7 supervision to a staff that knows and loves your dog, we’re proud to be the place worth the trip.
Absolutely! We give Barkuterie thank-you treats, birthday shout-outs, enrichment milestones, and holiday adventures. Your pup is part of our pack, and we celebrate them accordingly.

We address some of the most asked questions in the videos on this page,
but you can always book a call where we can give you more information.

Book a Call

Topics covered in the videos include:

Attendance: What is your attendance policy?
To make sure dogs are comfortable at the ranch, they need to be familiar with our facility and our staff. Dogs that are comfortable will be happier and experience less stress.

Assessment: What does the welcome assessment include and involve?
The welcome assessment is an important tool not only to determine if the ranch is the right place for your dog, but also how we can help your dog.

Lobby Times: Why are you closed in the middle of the day?
By closing the lobby for drop off and pick up in the middle of the day, we are actually able to focus on the dogs, instead of running dogs back and forth, with all the arousal it creates in the dogs. Dogs are able to settle down and can engage in the enrichment activities we provide.

Structured Day: What does my dog’s day look like in daycare?
We offer a structured day for the dogs in our care, taking into account their individual needs and personalities. The dogs will receive individual attention, plenty of opportunity for socialization, physical exercise as well as mental stimulation.

Pictures & Videos: Where can I see photos and videos of my dog?
We take a lot of photos and videos of the dogs during their stay. These get posted on a private Facebook group, just for our clients. You can see what they are doing, what they enjoy during their stay and who the other dog friends are that they like to hang out with!

Vaccinations: What are the vaccination and health requirements?
For the safety of all the dogs in our care, we need all dogs to be fully vaccinated for Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza and Parvovirus as well as rabies, Bordetella and Canine Influenza (both H3N2 and H3N8). We require fecal tests results every 6 months.

Reservations: What does it mean to have my reservation waitlisted?
We will place reservations that are booked several weeks or months in advance, on a waitlist. That does not mean we cannot honor the request, we simply want to make sure that all the requirements, including attendance, will have been met.

Overnight Essentials: What do I need to provide when my dog stays overnight?
We only need you to bring your dog’s essentials: food, preportioned for each meal and labeled whether it is lunch or dinner and, if applicable, medications in their original packaging.
