Enrichment Adventures at A Walk in the Park™

At A Walk in the Park, happy dogs is what we do® — and enrichment is at the heart of that promise.

Our enrichment adventures are more than themed decorations or quick games. They’re immersive, story-driven experiences designed to awaken curiosity and invite each dog to do what dogs love most: sniff, explore, investigate, and discover — guided by their own instincts.

Every month, our enrichment room transforms into a new world of sensory wonder — built with textures, sounds, scents, and motion that engage dogs’ natural behaviors while nurturing calm confidence, curiosity, and joy.

Current Experience: The Ghost of Canterville

The house has a new family.

The problem is, it already has a ghost.

For generations, Sir Simon de Canterville has haunted the halls of Canterville Chase with rattling chains, mysterious stains, ghostly disguises, and a reputation carefully built over several centuries. Then the Otis family arrives, and almost immediately, things stop going according to plan.

Over the next four weeks, our dogs will step inside our retelling of Oscar Wilde’s The Canterville Ghost, a world of dark corridors, old portraits, hidden rooms, strange noises, mysterious objects, secret gardens, and one increasingly frustrated ghost who cannot understand why nobody is properly frightened of him.

Each chapter will inspire a new enrichment adventure. The dogs may investigate unfamiliar scents left behind in an old room, follow clues through the corridors, explore objects belonging to Canterville’s past, search for hidden discoveries, listen for something moving where nothing can be seen, or find their way into places that seem to have been waiting for them.

The story creates the mystery, but the dogs decide what deserves their attention. They can approach, investigate, watch from a distance, return later, or simply walk away. Sir Simon may be determined to get a reaction, but every dog gets to decide what happens next.

Meanwhile, the chains are beginning to rattle, the famous bloodstain refuses to behave, the twins have discovered that haunting a ghost can be almost as entertaining as being haunted by one, and somewhere inside Canterville Chase, a much older secret is waiting to be found.

The gates are open.
The halls are quiet.
For now.

Welcome to The Ghost of Canterville.

Come inside, because at Canterville Chase, you never know what might be waiting around the next corner. 🐾

Adventure Kong of the Month: Meet the Canterville Bloodstain Kong. 👻

Our Ghost of Canterville adventure needed a Kong of its own.

Meet the Canterville Bloodstain Kong. 👻

We keep this one simple. Plain white rice is mixed with pumpkin purée to create a soft filling, then each Kong is finished with a streak of strawberry purée running down the side.

The result looks a little like the mysterious bloodstain at Canterville Chase, which makes it a perfect fit for Sir Simon’s haunted old house.

For the dogs, of course, the story is less important than the food. They get a mix of soft textures, mild flavors, and a little fruity sweetness, packed into a Kong that gives them something to lick, work at, and enjoy.

A little pumpkin. A little strawberry. A little Canterville mystery.
