The Canterville Ghost: Welcome to Canterville Chase
The stain has returned.
Washington Otis is quite certain he removed it yesterday. His father has already offered the ghost oil for his rattling chains. The twins are preparing a haunting of their own.
Sir Simon is beginning to miss the people who screamed.
For centuries, he has haunted Canterville Chase with considerable pride. He has the costumes, the terrible expressions, and a thorough knowledge of the creaking floorboards. The arrival of the Otis family is proving difficult for his reputation.
For four weeks, our dogs will explore an enrichment adventure at A Walk in the Park inspired by Oscar Wilde’s The Canterville Ghost.
Wilde’s story brings a thoroughly practical family into a house full of supernatural disturbances. We are turning those encounters into hidden scents, unexpected sounds, unfamiliar surfaces, secret spaces, and puzzles tucked among the Gothic arches and shadowy passages of Canterville Chase.
The house will grow as the adventure unfolds. New doorways, architectural silhouettes, and hiding places will give the dogs more to investigate each week. They can follow a scent through the gallery, search near the library’s mysterious stain, discover what is behind a screen, or pause at an archway before deciding whether to step through.
The dogs do not need to believe in ghosts. They only need to notice what has changed.
And while the family gets on with unpacking, scrubbing, and playing tricks, Virginia begins to notice something else. Beneath Sir Simon’s grand performances is someone who has been lonely for a very long time.
The family has arrived. The twins have a plan. Sir Simon would like a little respect.
